Our R.E. curriculum, at Hallam Primary School, allows children to discover and gain an insight into religions within the world that we live. We see the teaching of R.E. vital to understand others beliefs and make connections between their own values. It is our role to ensure pupils are being inquisitive by asking questions about the world around them by allowing pupils to gain high quality experiences.
How R.E. is taught at Hallam
R.E. is taught through a whole school approach, whereby pupils spend the day learning about a certain religion. This is done through engaging activities linked to core skills that develop through school. The 6 main religions are taught over 2 years, with Christianity being taught throughout both.
As well as having an R.E. day based on each religion, each year group is allocated a religious place of worship in which to visit. This enhances the children’s learning through experience. In addition, key speakers from religious organisations are welcomed at Hallam to speak to the children.
