Year 4

Update from Thornbridge 4.4.17

The Year 4 children had a fantastic day yesterday and really pulled together as a big team.  Groups completed different activities including the High ropes Course, cycling on the Monsal Trail and the low ropes course.  After our evening meal we all enjoyed the  legendary Hallam camp fire including egg roulette which was great fun.

The children were amazing after teh camp fire and settled really quickly.  We all commented over breakfast just what a brilliant night's sleep they had all had - possibly the best ever first night of a residential  - long may it continue!!!!

Access to wifi is limited at Thornbridge however we will endeavour to get some photographs on there on our return.  For now here's our own birthday boy himself, Mr Wale just after making the fatal error of choosing a raw egg in egg roulette and as we sang him happy birthday this morning!!

Year 4's science week fun!

This week we have been taking part in lots of science related activities for science week. These included a meteor investigation, looking at the surface of Mars, the length of a year and days on different planets, packing for a trip to Mars and finally, an investigation into whether the number of wheels or size of wheels affects the distance a Mars Rover will travel.

We designed our own rovers and tested them on an uneven surface. Have a look at our video.

On Friday 13th January we had some Chinese dancers come in and show us and teach us some traditional Chinese dancing.
