The Lion King Easter Performance!
Below are the songs we would like the children to learn for our Easter performance. With each song, there is a web link to the music we will be using. The background link for each song, without background singers, will be the one we will be using on our performance. Have fun learning these songs and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 24th April 2018!
The Circle of Life
Everyone sing
From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the Sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round
It's the circle of life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle
The circle of life

Just Can’t Wait to be King
Simba
I'm gonna be a mighty king
So enemies beware!
Zazu
Well, I've never seen a king of beasts
With quite so little hair
Simba
I'm gonna be the mane event
Like no king was before
I'm brushing up on looking down
I'm working on my ROAR
Zazu
Thus far, a rather uninspiring thing
Simba
Oh, I just can't wait to be king!
Zazu
(You've rather a long way to go, young master,
if you think...)
Simba
No one saying do this
Zazu
(Now when I said that, I -)
Nala
No one saying be there
Zazu
(What I meant was...)
Simba
No one saying stop that
Zazu
(Look, what you don't realize...)
Simba & Nala
No one saying see here
Zazu
(Now see here!)
Simba
Free to run around all day
Zazu
(Well, that's definitely out...)
Simba
Free to do it all my way!
Zazu
I think it's time that you and I
Arranged a heart to heart
Simba
Kings don't need advice
From little hornbills for a start
Zazu
If this is where the monarchy is headed
Count me out!
Out of service, out of Africa
I wouldn't hang about
This child is getting wildly out of wing
Simba
Oh, I just can't wait to be king!
Everybody look left
Nala
Everybody look right
Everywhere you look I'm
Standing in the spotlight!
Zazu
Not yet!
Everyone
Let every creature go for broke and sing
Let's hear it in the herd and on the wing
It's gonna be King Simba's finest fling
Oh, I just can't wait to be king!
Oh, I just can't wait to be king!
Oh, I just can't waaaaaait ... to be king!
Hakuna Matata
TIMON & PUMBA & SIMBA& EVERYBODY
Hakuna Matata!
What a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata!
Ain't no passing craze
EVERYBODY
It means no worries
For the rest of your days
It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!
Simba
Hakuna Matata?
Pumba
Yeah, it's our motto
Simba
What's a motto?
Timon
Nothing! What's a motto with you? Ah haah haah ha ha
Pumba
You know, kid- these two words will solve all your problems
Timon
That's right! Take Pumba for example
Why, when he was a young warthog
Pumba
When I was a young wart-hoooog!
Timon
Very nice!
Pumba
Thanks!
Timon
He found his aroma lacked a certain appeal
He could clear the Savannah after every meal
Pumba
I'm a sensitive soul, though I seem thick-skinned
And it hurt that my friends never stood downwind
And oh, the shame
(He was ashamed!)
Thought of changin' my name
(Oh, what's in a name?)
And I got downhearted
(How did you feel?)
Every time that I-
Pumbaa! Not in front of the kids!
Oh... sorry
EVERYBODY
Hakuna Matata!
What a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata!
Ain't no passing craze
Simba
It means no worries
For the rest of your days
Timon & Pumba
Yeah, sing it, kid!
EVERYBODY
It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!
In the Jungle, the mighty jungle
Everyone sing
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
In the jungle, the mighty jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
In the jungle the quiet jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
Near the village the peaceful village
The lion sleeps tonight
Near the village the quiet village
The lion sleeps tonight
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
Can You Feel the Love Tonight?
TIMON & PUMBA & SIMBA & NALA & EVERYBODY
I can see what's happening (What?)
And they don't have a clue (Who?)
They'll fall in love and here's the bottom line
Our trio's down to two. (Oh.)
The sweet caress of twilight
There's magic everywhere
And with all this romantic atmosphere
Disaster's in the air
EVERYBODY
Can you feel the love tonight?
The peace the evening brings
The world, for once, in perfect harmony
With all its living things
So many things to tell her
But how to make her see
The truth about my past? Impossible!
She'd turn away from me
He's holding back, he's hiding
But what, I can't decide
Why won't he be the king I know he is
The king I see inside?
EVERYBODY
Can you feel the love tonight?
The peace the evening brings
The world, for once, in perfect harmony
With all its living things
Can you feel the love tonight?
You needn't look too far
Stealing through the night's uncertainties
Love is where they are
And if he falls in love tonight (Pumba Sniffs)
It can be assumed
His carefree days with us are history
In short, our pal is doomed
He Lives in You
Everyone Sing
Small group only
Ingy nama nengy emba lala
Ingy nama nengy emba lala
Night and the spirit of life calling
Oh, oh, iyo, mamela
And the voice with the fear of a child answers
Iyo iyo, mamela
Wait, there's no mountain too great
Hear these words and have faith
Oh, oh, iyo
Have faith
Hela hey mamela, hela hey mamela
Hela hey mamela, hela hey mamela
He lives in you, he lives in me
He watches over everything we see
Into the waters, into the truth
In your reflection, he lives in you
Dream, and the voice in the wind whispers
Iyo mamela
Wait, there's no mountain too great
Hear these words and have faith, oh, oh, iyo
He lives in you, he lives in me
He watches over everything we see
Into the waters, into the truth
In your reflection, he lives in you
Ingy nama nengy emba lala
Ingy nama nengy emba lala
He lives in you, he lives in me
He watches over everything we see
Into the water, into the truth
In your reflection, he lives in you
He lives in you, oh yeah, he lives in me
He watches over everything we see
Into the water, into the truth
In your reflection, he lives, he lives, he lives, he lives in you
He lives, he lives, he lives in you
He watches over everything we see
3S have loved learning all about the Stone Age this half term. Have a look at our animoto to see what we have been up to!
World Book Day
Year 3 have had some great fun on World Book Day. We've dressed up, read books to each other, acted out scenes from books and discussed characters' thoughts and feelings, compared different versions of The Three Little Pigs, including one from The Big Bad Wolf's perspective, and drawn our own comic strip version of The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs! by Jon Scieszka. Phew!! It's been a very busy but very fun day!
Science Week
We had a jolly busy Science Week, where the focus was Arctic Exploration in the Antarctic.
To begin with, the we looked at the location of the Arctic and Antarctic and discussed the differences between the two. We all enjoyed learning about the importance of studying and exploring the Antarctic.
Everyone researched a selection of animals to find out where they lived and sticking them around a map. We also discussed the features of different deep-sea animals and grouped them in different ways, including by their colour, bone structure and how deep they lived.
Then, we began a science project to design and scientifically test to make a “grabber” which could be used to collect scientific samples.
Everyone considered materials, tools and how to join parts together. Making the grabber was simple… if you measured everything correctly. I think we all needed a warm up after outdoor testing though!
African Drumming Workshop
Year 3 really enjoyed their African Drumming Workshop. The expert drumming instructor helped everyone develop Year 3's drumming skills over a whole morning and they sounded absolutely amazing...take a look!
Afterwards 3T listened to some songs with iconic or really catchy drumbeats (Adam and the Ants - Kings of the Wild Frontier / Queen - We Will Rock You / Kiss - I Love It Loud) and tried to copy them. What is your favourite drumming song? Can you drum better than your child? Why not practise together!
