Ofsted Report

Parents praise Hallam Primary School as it is rated ‘good’ by Ofsted

The latest Ofsted report, published on 11th June, maintains Hallam Primary School as Good.

The visit was the first short inspection to be carried out since the school was judged to be ‘good’ in September 2013.

Over 300 parents shared their views with Ofsted prior to the report, with 99% saying that they would recommend the school to others. Parents also agreed that their children were happy, felt safe and made good progress at the school, outcomes that were echoed by Ofsted.

The short inspection report highlighted that the school ‘is a happy place to come to work and learn,’ and that pupils are confident in their surroundings, approaching learning ‘with a real energy and drive to succeed.’ It also noted the effectiveness of safeguarding measures at the school. Parents' views were overwhelmingly positive. One quote from the report said: “There is a strong drive to allow children to forge memories and allow pupils to be individuals.”

In September 2013, during its full inspection, Ofsted rated the school ‘good’ in all categories, including leadership and management; quality of teaching; behaviour and safety of pupils and achievements of pupils.

Headteacher, Chris Stewart, said: “The inspection was a really positive experience and I’m delighted that the hard work of the staff team was recognised. I feel lucky to be able to lead this team and fortunate to work with such a great group of adults and children.”

He continued: “We now have a clear set of objectives to work on and the team are fully committed to continuing their journey towards an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted judgement.” Hallam Primary School is a large, inclusive and welcoming primary school providing education for 621 pupils from the ages of 4 to 11. The school became part of Tapton School Academy Trust in August 2015. Angela Lant, Director of Primaries for the Trust, said: “Staff, children and parents have all worked hard over the last 2 years to ensure that the school is a great place to be.”

“The Trust continues to work in partnership with the school and we are very happy with the progress the school is making.”
