Weymouth Day 2

Day 2 didn’t bring the glorious sunshine it promised, however we brought our fighting Sheffield spirit to the south coast!  Wet, wild and windy would be an understatement for the weather today, but we all enjoyed our morning’s activities. These included: problem solving, mountain biking and tunnel trail, which we will rotate through in our groups over the next few days. Tomorrow also brings ‘Survivor’, where we will be making campfires and shelters. After our morning activities, we then eagerly boarded the coach to Dorchester and made our way round the Tutankhamen exhibition, where we learned about the Boy King and saw his replica tomb. The gift shop was also a highlight, and we look forward to showing you our souvenirs! After warming up back at base, we enjoyed our hot dinner, more opportunity to spend our money in the gift shop and finally an evening activity of Wacky Races. Tomorrow we have more activities and a trip to the Sea Life Centre. The forecast looks dry, so fingers crossed!

Weymouth Day 1

Well we made it to the Jurassic Coast! To the merry sound of chanting and an excited countdown, we entered the gates to PGL. The damp weather didn’t dampen our spirits! Firstly, the children all settled into their rooms and met our enthusiastic group leaders, Mitch and Willow. We had a tour of the site and played some games in our groups, all overlooking the beautiful Osmington Bay.  Dinner was delicious: steak pie, chicken nuggets or quorn and sweet potato risotto, with tasty peach cobbler for dessert. We also filled up on fresh fruit and the salad bar.  After dinner, we organised and tidied our rooms, before heading to an indoor campfire. Tomorrow we will be rising early for room inspections and starting our activities.

5G Spring

This term in 5G we have looked at the Ancient Egyptians.

We have made masks using paper mache, developed a dance about the animals of the rainforest with Amy and looked at the new building.

We investigated the changes in the use of land and the differences between physical and human geography.
